We have been cooking this for a long time: we are over the moon to announce our exhibition PROW:ESSE, presenting the work of six highly talented demosceners in a completely new way. We are especially grateful to our production partner SCREENCOM, who provide us with their high-definition digital totems to give a worthy display for the artworks.
What this is about:
Real inclusion doesn’t mean that minorities get to take part – it’s about them receiving the recognition and respect for their competencies, and being included as the experts they absolutely are.
The demoscene is a unique place within digital art: at demoparties’ bigscreens, nothing points towards the origin, education, gender or financial means – only the work itself is being assessed. Any platform or media that may create an artistic output is allowed. And everyone can take part – other than at many other art events, one does not need to be a member of an association or institution in order to present their work, and there is no jury selection taking place.
But: IT jobs: 15%. Media Culture: 35%. Demoscene: 20%. This is the status quo of women in Tech in Germany – no surprise that it is still widely considered a male domain. What continues to stop women and non-binary people from participating to this day?
Our exhibition does not only present you with the works of outstanding cis-female, trans* and non-binary artists, but also tells you about their history, creative process, experiences, wishes and advice for other artists and experts from gender-minorities in tech.
We are delighted to present the following artists:
- Lucid – Sound Design and Soundtrack Composition (http://www.lena-kilkka.com/)
- Faith – Illustration (https://www.sylvia-ritter.com/)
