The Demonights are a non-profit demoscene meetup in Bern, taking place about four times a year at various locations, but mainly in Berne. Beside watching the latest demos, we try to held themed evenings and even a small competition here and then. Demonights are organized by Echtzeit – Digitale Kultur and supported by other organizations or locations.
Born from the urgent need to hold a regular demoscene related meeting or meetup, the Demonights are a successor to the long running demoparty series Demodays (mind the pun) and Buenzli. Starting back in 2017, Demonights are currently the only active and repeating demoscene event in Switzerland. We aim to be the place where long time demosceners meet to watch demos, where new people are introduced to the world of intros & demos and where creativity could culminate in new productions contributed to the demoscene.
With this in mind, we plan the Demonights about four times a year. If you miss one, it won’t take too long for the next! Some of the Demonights are somewhat themed and we have speakers introducing the audience to their favourite topic. Sometimes we just watch the latest and greatest demos (or oldies but goldies). And then, all of a sudden, we decide to dedicate an evening to Amiga, or to C64. Or to pinball. However the most important thing is that Demonights live off your inputs, contribution and engagement. We organize the space and a little advertisment for the event – but we can not come up with fresh ideas every time. Thus we need your ideas: Let’s get it going – there’s no thing that’d be too weird.
Demonights are not necessarily taking place in Berne, we might do spin-offs in other places (where the same things apply: we need you to take action, get in touch with ideas and plans and will happily help, supply and organize).
